About

JOY is the vitality of the body and mind, the highest expression of lifeforce and agency.

YOGA is a thousands of years old Ayurvedic healing system and philosophy. The Sanskrit word Yoga means the union of body, mind, and soul. The age-old tradition nourishes the cultivation of awareness and experience of inner balance and strength, interconnectivity within the self and the world around us, and helps us to support a healthy body.

JOYOGA wants to nourish and activate the innate joy that helps you dance to the rhythm of life.

Through Yoga you can experience how the body and mind work together, allowing for a meaningful permeation into contemporary everyday aspects of life and existence.
Yoga is also an effective and beneficial tool for physical and mental healing, for reaching a more peaceful state of mind, managing stress better, and finding new positive patterns in life, while keeping your body fit.

Yoga practice is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Its positive effects on cognition, emotions, brain function, immune system as well as mental health are scientifically proven.

The more you care and connect with the inside the more you can connect and care for the outside.

About me

Dr. Berit Fischer

My Yoga journey began in 1999 when I was living in New York City and seeking to find ways to balance my inner and physical existence and entanglement with the demanding challenges of urban contemporary life. I now work internationally from Berlin, Germany.

I have practised different styles of yoga since then, and in 2008 I discovered my special love for Ashtanga Yoga, a dynamic, powerful form of Hatha Yoga.

This led me to want to deepen my practice by completing a 200 hours Ashtanga Yoga teacher training in 2013. Since then I have been practising with daily devotion and teaching.

While continuing to be a lifelong student myself, I discovered my love for teaching, and for wanting to pass this wonderful practice on to others and to offer my guidance in their progress.

I am passionate about nurturing a space in which people can transform and grow individually and ultimately bring about positive change in the community of life. I feel privileged if I can share my experiences to support others on their path!

I am also practising Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. And in addition to my yogic path, I also am a Reiki practitioner and received my Master level initiation in 2004. Reiki is an effective and profound Japanese hands-on energy healing technique using ki (Chinese chi = life force) energy. It works holistically as an alternative medical treatment on physical, mental, and emotional levels, promoting the body’s regenerative self-healing ability.

Furthermore, I hold a Philosophical Doctorate in the Arts and Humanities.

I am in deep gratitude to all my teachers, e.g., Nancy Gilgoff, Petri Raisanen, Matthew and Carla Vollmer, Regina Ehlers, Matias de Biedma, and especially to Andrea Lutz and Manju Pattabhi Jois, the oldest son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who is recognized worldwide as the foremost authority on Ashtanga Yoga.

Testimonials

Berit led a mixed ability yoga class of ca. 25 people with a broad range of ages and nationalities at FTI’s annual staff conference in Dublin. The session was incredible and the feedback from all participants was extremely positive. Berit took time to explain the class, she moved at a pace that was perfect for the group and suggested alternatives poses if required.  Berit found time to circulate amongst the group to assist with positioning in the asanas. Her style is inclusive, attentive and she instils peace and calm through her presence. Her experience instils confidence. I would love to work with Berit again and would highly recommend her.

Apart from Berit's sensitivity to support me (physically and mentally) through the yoga postures I struggle with the most, what really clicks for me in her sessions is the ecological approach, especially during the closing meditation. It connects me not just to myself and others, but also to the planet. Thank you, Berit!

After various attempts at yoga, I found the perfect conditions to develop an Ashtanga practice with Berit. She creates a relaxed and concentrated atmosphere, the guided meditations are super pleasant, accompanied by her beautiful voice and special fragrances, her corrections are personal and very helpful, with her experience and broad knowledge she also finds answers to specific problems. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, from the tea served at the beginning to the sound of the singing bowls. I am very grateful to her for that.

I have been practising with Berit for over 10 years and appreciate her attentive and empathetic responses to the needs of each individual yoga student. I come out of the yoga classes strengthened in body and mind, which helps me to meet the world with more serenity.

During Yoga and Pranayama sessions with Berit I can always feel her many years of experience in working with and caring for people from all walks of life. Her deep knowledge about those sacred movement and breathing practices as well as Ecology and Humanities, together with her honest nature help me find strength and direction on my personal journey.

Thanks to Berit's clear instructions and precise adjustments, I became very interested in Ashtanga yoga and learned the asanas very accurately. In the Mysore practice in a small, informal group, she takes a lot of time and attends very directly to the individual needs. I can highly recommend practicing yoga with Berit.
